Get Pregnant
There’s a Hole in your Life

Where a Child Should Be
And, after months or possibly years of trying to get pregnant, you can no longer bear the sadness, the humiliation, the damage it is doing to your sense of self and to your relationship with your partner.
Because, the truth is, it’s wearing you down and driving you apart.
Yes, you could give up, and adopt. Or foster. Or resolve to just enjoy life as it is, just the two of you, happy together, but childless.
Telling everyone your careers matter more, at least we’ve got each other, it’s just not meant to be…
All the things you keep telling yourself, but…
You know it hurts.
Every time you see someone pushing a stroller, or playing at the park, or dropping a child off at school, or when friends already have a child, or more, and keep asking…
When will you get pregnant?
That should be us, you may think. That should be me. Why isn’t it my turn?
So – when WILL it be you, happy parents of a healthy and happy baby?

Can YOU Get Pregnant After 35
And Have A Healthy Baby?
Should you try to get pregnant after 35?
Perhaps you had your first child a few years ago and now, at age 37, you’d love to get pregnant and give her a brother or a sister, but you’re having trouble conceiving.
Or it could be that you have been trying to get pregnant for some time, but it hasn’t happened, and now, coming up to your 40th birthday, you’re worried that now it’s too late and your chance is gone forever.
This isn’t the case.
In the 21st century we are living longer, healthier lives. Medical care has improved, including care for expecting mothers and babies.
While it is true that it’s more difficult to get pregnant after age 35 than it was in your 20s or early 30s, it is still possible for most women to get pregnant and have a healthy baby after 35, and also after 40.
Childbirth after age thirty five is much more common today in comparison with past decades, although many women believe it isn’t safe to have a baby after age 35, or after age forty.
So let’s consider the risks.
What Are the Risks If You Get Pregnant After 35…Or 40?
It is true that pregnancy-related complications are more likely when the mother is over the age of thirty five, and this is due to a number of different factors.
The quality of maternal eggs (you are born with all the eggs you will ever have, though they don’t mature until just before being released; one per month) and paternal sperm (they continually develop in the millions and die off) does decrease after age 35, though that is gradual. Egg division after conception is at a higher risk for being abnormal for older parents.
Although the risk of complications does rise for women within the 35+ age group, the good news is the majority of women can have perfectly healthy pregnancies and babies until their early 40s.
You will also have a slightly higher risk of birth defects, something you will want to discuss with your doctor.
If you are planning a pregnancy or hoping to get pregnant and you are 35 or older, there are many actions you can take to have a healthy baby.
Get Ready For A Healthy Pregnancy
Make sure you are in good overall health and be aware that if you have a condition such as diabetes, or are very underweight or overweight, it could make getting pregnant more difficult and will complicate your pregnancy.
If you’re considering pregnancy, start taking prenatal supplements now. You particularly need to take a good prenatal vitamin and also be sure to get enough folic acid (Vitamin B12) before conceiving.
Other ways to look after yourself when you are trying to get pregnant are to get enough rest, get some daily exercise, manage stress, and drink your 8 glasses of water daily.

What About Miscarriages After Age 35?
Women past the age of 35 are more likely to miscarry than women who are younger, but they’re still much more likely not to miscarry than they are to miscarry.
The risk of miscarriage below the age of thirty five is roughly 15 %, and beyond the age of 35, it is roughly 25%, or, to put it another way, one in four pregnancies will end in miscarriage.
There is a 75% chance, in other words, that women past the age of thirty five will carry their babies full term.
It is important to remember that, although a baby’s probability of developing birth defects increases when mothers are past the age of 35, the increased risk is slight till the woman is in her forties. The vast majority of women that conceive past the age of thirty five have children without any birth defects.
It can be scary to contemplate the possibility that your child might not be developing normally in your womb, but know that this likelihood is just slightly heightened because of your age.
If it is your dream to get pregnant, yet it hasn’t happened, you don’t need to give up hope, even if you’ve been trying for some time, even if you’ve had fertility treatments or ivf and it’s failed to start a baby, and even if you are over age 35, or even over age 40.
